keleigh and ben {eSession}

Whilst I was in the Bay area earlier this month I got to hang out with the awesome Keleigh and Ben. They are some of the funnest people I’ve ever met and we had a little too much fun rockin’ their engagements session around Oakland, California.
We started things off in their super cute condo where Ben showed me the beautiful light he and Keleigh had painfully installed and I showed them how great the natural light in their place was. Then it was off around the neighborhood for some super fun shots. Ben knew all the cool places! I seriously think I could have shot in the 3 blocks around their house for a month and never shot the same place twice. There was just loads of texture and color. It was awesome.
After dinner we headed back out for a few more shots. It was just fun hanging out with these two. It’s so obvious how much they care for each other, and how much they love just about everything the other has to offer. Their personalities are just perfect together! I mean, hello! Look at this picture and see why I LOVE THEM!
I am so excited for their wedding this November! It’s going to be a blast for sure!!!

Thanks Keleigh and Ben for an AWESOME evening and for being so much fun! We can’t wait to see you again!

Nora Lynn {Birth Portraits}

Filed under: Birth Portraits

I couldn’t wait to share these! Today I had the joy of witnessing the birth of Nora Lynn. She was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long. Her birth went without a hitch! Everything went perfectly. Her mom, Bethany, is a PRO! I photographed Nora’s brother’s birth a few years ago, and it was very similar - quick and totally amazing! Nora is welcomed by her mom, dad and older sister and brother. Thanks to Bethany and Mike for once again letting me be a part of such a huge event in your lives. It meant the world to me! I will post a slideshow soon, but as most of Bethany and Mike’s family are out of state I wanted to share these images of their beautiful baby girl. Congratulations!!!

I Love You More Than I Have Ever Found a Way to Say to You

Filed under: Personal

Three years ago today I married my best friend. Dustin and I didn’t know each other very long when we got engaged (15 days to be exact) and we were only engaged for 4 months. But he is it for me - and once I recognized him I couldn’t marry him fast enough. He is the only person who ever made me feel like I was completely lovable, that more than that completely WORTH loving. He put his hands into my heaped up heart and made something glorious of it. He made me who I am because he could see me so much better than I saw (and see) myself. He believes in my more than I ever thought anyone could. He loves me better than I could ever deserve and for that I will be eternally indebted to the universe that lead him (literally) to my door.

Dustin thank you for making me a better me, for making me a mother and wife (two things I never thought I would be) and for loving me so unabashedly and so freely the thought of all that love makes me weep. You are my friend. You are my everything. I love you. Happy anniversary - I can’t wait to see what forever holds for us.

    Happy Anniversary Sarah! What a beautiful story. I love how the world of blogging lets us share a special moment with people we wouldn’t know otherwise! I have written a book called “I Love You More” and have a “Google Alert” set whenever the phrase is used-which is how I found your post. You might enjoy sharing our book and its message with your husband…don’t let the colorful illustrations fool you…its message is for everyone :-)
    Have a bright and blessed lifetime!

Lyndsay and Mike {day after}

Filed under: Post Wedding Bridals

I don’t think there are words for the awesome I am about to drop on ya’ll. SERIOUSLY! Lyndsay and Mike are my hero’s right now. They had a kick ass wedding, and then we got together the next afternoon and hard core ROCKED OUT their post wedding bridal session. Dustin and I were like kids in a candy store! We had so much fun with this awesome couple.
We started out in their downtown Sacramento neighborhood doing my most favorite thing - walking around following the light. It was fabulous to shoot in some places I love as well as some new places that were amazing.
Then is was off to the place these two met - Bel Air Supermarket on Arden Way. Lyndsay and Mike both worked there when they first met, and I’ve always had a strange fantasy about shooting in a grocery store and I’m a HUGE fan of the Raley’s/Bel Air/Nob Hill chain of grocery stores so really, this was like the most perfect day ever for me. :)
Mike has this INSANE tattoo of a phoenix on his back, and I couldn’t let the chance to photograph it pass me by. So, in the middle of the Bel Air parking lot I totally made Mike strip off his shirt. It was TOTALLY worth it. The picture of Lyndsay holding on to Mike with his arms outstretched seriously moves me. I love it!
Thanks to Lyndsay and Mike for SUCH a rockin’ night! You guys are the best and we love you loads. We can’t wait to see what your future holds!!!

Check out the slideshow for more images from this rockin’ session!
