keleigh and ben {eSession}

Whilst I was in the Bay area earlier this month I got to hang out with the awesome Keleigh and Ben. They are some of the funnest people I’ve ever met and we had a little too much fun rockin’ their engagements session around Oakland, California.
We started things off in their super cute condo where Ben showed me the beautiful light he and Keleigh had painfully installed and I showed them how great the natural light in their place was. Then it was off around the neighborhood for some super fun shots. Ben knew all the cool places! I seriously think I could have shot in the 3 blocks around their house for a month and never shot the same place twice. There was just loads of texture and color. It was awesome.
After dinner we headed back out for a few more shots. It was just fun hanging out with these two. It’s so obvious how much they care for each other, and how much they love just about everything the other has to offer. Their personalities are just perfect together! I mean, hello! Look at this picture and see why I LOVE THEM!
I am so excited for their wedding this November! It’s going to be a blast for sure!!!

Thanks Keleigh and Ben for an AWESOME evening and for being so much fun! We can’t wait to see you again!

Nora Lynn {Birth Portraits}

I couldn’t wait to share these! Today I had the joy of witnessing the birth of Nora Lynn. She was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long. Her birth went without a hitch! Everything went perfectly. Her mom, Bethany, is a PRO! I photographed Nora’s brother’s birth a few years ago, and it was very similar – quick and totally amazing! Nora is welcomed by her mom, dad and older sister and brother. Thanks to Bethany and Mike for once again letting me be a part of such a huge event in your lives. It meant the world to me! I will post a slideshow soon, but as most of Bethany and Mike’s family are out of state I wanted to share these images of their beautiful baby girl. Congratulations!!!

I Love You More Than I Have Ever Found a Way to Say to You

Three years ago today I married my best friend. Dustin and I didn’t know each other very long when we got engaged (15 days to be exact) and we were only engaged for 4 months. But he is it for me – and once I recognized him I couldn’t marry him fast enough. He is the only person who ever made me feel like I was completely lovable, that more than that completely WORTH loving. He put his hands into my heaped up heart and made something glorious of it. He made me who I am because he could see me so much better than I saw (and see) myself. He believes in my more than I ever thought anyone could. He loves me better than I could ever deserve and for that I will be eternally indebted to the universe that lead him (literally) to my door.

Dustin thank you for making me a better me, for making me a mother and wife (two things I never thought I would be) and for loving me so unabashedly and so freely the thought of all that love makes me weep. You are my friend. You are my everything. I love you. Happy anniversary – I can’t wait to see what forever holds for us.

Lyndsay and Mike {day after}

I don’t think there are words for the awesome I am about to drop on ya’ll. SERIOUSLY! Lyndsay and Mike are my hero’s right now. They had a kick ass wedding, and then we got together the next afternoon and hard core ROCKED OUT their post wedding bridal session. Dustin and I were like kids in a candy store! We had so much fun with this awesome couple.
We started out in their downtown Sacramento neighborhood doing my most favorite thing – walking around following the light. It was fabulous to shoot in some places I love as well as some new places that were amazing.
Then is was off to the place these two met – Bel Air Supermarket on Arden Way. Lyndsay and Mike both worked there when they first met, and I’ve always had a strange fantasy about shooting in a grocery store and I’m a HUGE fan of the Raley’s/Bel Air/Nob Hill chain of grocery stores so really, this was like the most perfect day ever for me. :)
Mike has this INSANE tattoo of a phoenix on his back, and I couldn’t let the chance to photograph it pass me by. So, in the middle of the Bel Air parking lot I totally made Mike strip off his shirt. It was TOTALLY worth it. The picture of Lyndsay holding on to Mike with his arms outstretched seriously moves me. I love it!
Thanks to Lyndsay and Mike for SUCH a rockin’ night! You guys are the best and we love you loads. We can’t wait to see what your future holds!!!

Lyndsay and Mike - Day After

Lyndsay and Mike {wedding}

Lyndsay and Mike…. where to begin! I honestly feel like I’m blogging about one of my dearest friends weddings right now. Lyndsay and Mike are just amazing! And I love them so stinkin’ much! It was such a pleasure photographing their wedding, and getting to know them and basically totally falling in love with them. The day after their wedding I was telling my sister about how awesome it was and totally started crying I was so overcome with how beautiful and heartfelt everything was. It was just incredible and I can’t sing their praises enough. I think another thing that made this wedding stand out was my wonderful friend Beth Baugher of True Love Photo was by my side that day. Beth is such an awesome photographer, and such a wonderful freind that our day together just FLEW by! It was an amazing day with an amazing couple and my amazing friend. How can it get better? Well… take a look at some of the pictures.
Lyndsay and Mike got hitched at the Monte Verde Inn in Foresthill, California on July 18th. It was a BEAUTIFUL day with absolutely perfect weather. Lyndsay’s black and white wedding went perfectly at this beautiful estate. It was wonderful hanging out with the bride and groom and their attendants as they got ready. Lyndsay and I are detail girls and I was SQUEALING I was so excited about some of her choices. From her shoes that read “Fairytales Are True” on the inside to her father’s wedding ring sewn into the lining of her dress to the perfect choice of well… EVERYTHING this wedding was just downright stunning. Lyndsay thought of everything and let’s be honest – I love that. :)
Seriously! Could Lyndsay and her girls be ANY cuter? It was so fun using this beautiful light filled room to photograph these beautiful light filled women!I adore this next picture. Lyndsay and her bridesmaids sat in the window upstairs and watched the guests arrive. I was so fun to hear the running commentary about the people they love! It was hilarious!Beth was lucky enough to hang out with the fellas. Mike and his guys were SO fun! I went over to their room just to make sure everything was going along smoothly and let me just say this… Mike has very handsome friends. Lucky Beth. :)
Because Lyndsay and Mike are vying for “Couple I Want to Come Live at My House” status they did my most favorite thing a couple can do on a wedding day… they saw each other prior to the ceremony! Before their guests arrived Lyndsay and Mike met up on the grounds of Monte Verde and had a first look. It was so cute! Then we got all of their family portraits done before thier other guests arrived. It was awesome, and made the little amount of time we had during the cocktail hour perfect for a few more couple shots and some portraits with their bridal party. It was awesome!
Lyndsay and Mike had a beautiful ceremony under the canopy of trees at Monte Verde. There were tears and laughter and this overwhelming sense of pure joy that just hung off their family and friends who witnessed them promise their lives to each other. And, yes, I totally cried.
Then is was party time! Again, Lyndsay and Mike thought of everything! It was a joy to be a part of their wedding and a joy to witness their love for each other. They had a wonderful wedding full of all the things that make weddings so great – love, laughter, tears, family and friends. I can’t thank them enough for making me feel like one of the dearest friends and for letting me record their wedding. It was one of the most lovely and heart warming experiences of my career and really, of my life.
Thanks to Lyndsay and Mike for being so wonderful! Thank you to their awesome family and friends for your kindness and respect. And a HUGE thank you to Beth who rocked this wedding so hard that she made me a better photographer in the hopes of just keeping up with her. Now, do yourself a favor and check out the slideshow of Lyndsay and Mike’s wedding. And stay tuned later this week for their day after session… make sure your socks are on tight cause I’m gonna try to blow those suckers right off. :)
