So I’ve been alluding to it… I’ve been Twittering about it… I’ve been doing pretty much everything but showing you pictures of it and officially announcing it. Well, fine readers, I’m here to tell you that the days of vague chatter are over! It is officially almost complete, and gosh darn it I just can’t h old it in anymore! I HAVE A STUDIO! And it is beautiful and lovely and I am really, really excited and ever so proud. Let me tell you a little about it.

My darling friend Beth Baugher of True Love Photo invited me to share her studio space in Gold River, California. It was an invitation I eagerly accepted! I have loved meeting clients in our home, but the older Lauren gets, the less simple it is to keep a consultation or album design session distraction free. We have some new plans for our business in 2009, and those plans just wouldn’t work out in a home based studio. Beth’s invitation was the answer we were looking for. So we decided to have me move into the space, and with that move in would come a remodel of the studio. Beth and I were really excited about giving the place a face lift. We had the wonderful Meg Macri come and give us advice on colors, furnishings and flooring. Without her this would have been so much harder! Thanks to Meg for her amazing eye, and her ability to help Beth and I meet in the middle. With all of our major choices made, the remodel began! Here is our before picture followed by some pics of Beth and I rocking the remodel.

My sweet husband, and second shooter extraordinaire, Dustin did A LOT of work on this place. He put every tool I’ve ever bought him to work, and a few more tools were purchased during the course of the project. Dustin put his logic and math to use as we installed the flooring and baseboards. We are by no means contractors, but for the tools we had and the experience we have, it was really truly a job well done. Dustin did a tremendous amount of physical labor, and I don’t think I will ever be able to tell him how grateful I am for all the hard work he does every day for me. Dustin rocked this remodel like a hurricane!

I am also grateful to my wonderful family for all they did to help! My sister Kristin and brother Joe came out to help with the painting, and so did my BFF Jill’s older sister Jessica. (Painting for portraits… what a great idea, huh?) I’m not sure how my brother escaped our lens, but he did. Not only did he assist in painting the place, he also helped us out by building us a beautiful dressing room! It will make Closed Door Sessions so much easier, and more comfortable for clients. It’s so excited to have such a workable space!

After hours of painting, sanding, scraping, building, installing, and shopping finally it has all come together! We are still waiting on some new prints to come in, but other than that, the meeting area of the studio is complete and BEAUTIFUL! I feel like Beth and I are so well represented by this space. She and I are such a team, and honestly she is like a partner in so many ways. I am so glad to be sharing a creative environment with someone I so greatly love and admire. Her positive vibes make me very happy, and I am so grateful for her friendship. Together I feel we’ve really created something special. Here it is after all the work is done.

I am so excited to work in such an wonderful place! We not only have meeting space, but shooting space as well! We are putting some fresh paint on our shooting area, and once that is complete I will blog all about it. Until then, my heart is FULL TO THE BRIM with gratitude for my family and friends who helped, my beloved studio-mate Beth for her love and friendship, and for my AMAZING clients who have made this dream of mine a reality. I greatly look forward to making incredible images with you!
