    Cute Baby Alert {personal}

    So, you know how everyone tells you that your second baby gets way less pictures taken? I thought there was NO WAY that could possibly be true because, hello! I’m a photographer for the love. But guess what? It’s TOTALLY TRUE! Poor Ben is 10 weeks old, and I have been the worst about taking pictures of him. Luckily, we picked up a hot new lens last week (the new Nikon 85 f/1.4 AF-S G and his name is Carl) and it has magical qualities that make me want to be taking pictures with it every second of every day. So, of course that means I finally got around to taking some cute pictures of my super cute baby. I really do like him a lot.

    I’m going to try and be a better picture taking mama since he is a pretty awesome baby and does things like sleep through the night and be adorable on a constant basis. (I’m not joking about that sleeping through the night thing… I’m talking 9pm to 7am here people. It’s the most amazing thing ever.) I mean, he’s so freaking cute! Thanks for indulging me on the Mommy Monday.

    Donna and Kevin {eSession}

    Donna and Kevin are the first of my 2011 couples to get their engagement session, and oh my gosh did they kick things off with a bang! I am so excited to be a part of their wedding next year. Donna is as avid a wedding blog reader as I am, although she’s planning her wedding, so really, she has more of a reason to stalk blogs than I do, but still I LOVE being able to say, “Did you see this post on Style Me Pretty?” or talk about all the trends that are going on in weddings. Plus, she’s a total hottie! Which is awesome since I’m her photographer and all. Plus, she is marrying Kevin or “The Man with THE COOLEST EYES I HAVE EVER SEEN!” (That is how I refer to him around the office in case you were wondering.) Plus, Kevin gets bonus cool points for popping the question to Donna in ITALY! So, Dustin and I were very excited to have an evening with these two. We started in their neighborhood in East Sac so we could include their delighful puppies. It was lots of fun!

    Donna brought along this chalkboard she made so they could use the images on the Save-the-Date cards. I love how these turned out. Bringing props is one of my favorite things a couple can do on an engagement session.

    After a quick change of clothes we headed over to Old Sac for a few more pictures. When we went it was apparently Gold Rush Days, and the streets of town were shut down and covered with dirt. I have NEVER been to Old Sac and had it been so empty! There were maybe a dozen people in all of Old Sac ON A FRIDAY NIGHT! It was awesome and weird all at the same time. We were chasing the last little bit of sunlight because my light clock was a little off. I didn’t shoot much this summer with the baby having I did and all, and man! I totally forgot how fast fall light goes! But Donna and Kevin were troopers and raced around to get their images. It makes me very happy that we have lots of fast lenses and camera bodies with high ISO capabilities… because even though it was getting really dark we were still able to make the pretty.

    See what I’m saying about Kevin’s eyes! And then Donna has these crazy pretty green eyes… so much pretty all over the place! I love it!

    Donna and Kevin thank you so much for rocking out this session! We are so excited for your big day next year! Enjoy more pictures from their engagement session in their SLIDESHOW HERE or below.

    Gloria and Brent {wedding}

    Wonderful Gloria and Brent! Our first wedding back after my maternity leave was just plain wonderful. We LOVE these two, and were so excited to be a part of their beautiful wedding at Arden Hills Country Club. They are a wonderful couple who not only have the love of each other, but of one heck of a supportive family. It was a joy to be surrounded by them and all those who love them for their big day. Gloria is SO my girl when it comes to bling… she and I are on the same page when it comes to sparkle.

    Gloria and Brent decided on a first look and I’m so glad they did! I loved using the beautiful staircase at The Villa’s at Arden Hills. It made for a really great moment.

    The first thing Brent told her was she looked like a princess. Good job Brent! Then we got down to the business of group portraits. Gloria and Brent sure picked some fun people for their wedding party. It was HILARIOUS photographing these wild ones!

    Then it was ceremony time! The Villa’s courtyard is such a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. One of my favorite parts of the day was that Gloria’s whole family gave her away… mom, sister, and two brothers! It was pretty awesome.

    Then we rocked some sunset pictures of our beautiful Mr. and Mrs. before heading into their lovely reception in the Heritage Room.

    Gloria and Brent, THANK YOU for having us be a part of your beautiful wedding! We are so happy for you! Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or below for more from this fabulous wedding.
