Cortney and Wayne are SUPER cute! Dustin and I got together with them for their engagement session in beautiful Lodi, California – where they will also be getting married next month. I fell for these two pretty much the moment they walked in the door to the studio. They are so fun, so laid back and ever so in love. I can’t wait for their wedding! We started off behind the local Smart and Final… because really… where else would you start an engagement session?
Um, are you as taken with the eyes these two have as I am? I think I told Cortney her eyes were bananas at least 87 times during our 90 minutes engagement session. But seriously! How could I not?
To say we are excited to be a part of Cortney and Wayne’s big day is kind of an understatement! We are thrilled! We are so happy they are our first wedding of 2011, because we KNOW they will kick our season off right! Check out their SLIDEHSOW HERE or below for more loveliness from their engagement session!

Jennifer and Eric {wedding}
Here it is! SMP’s final wedding of 2010! And, what a wedding it was! Jen and Eric put on an incredible party at our favorite place for weddings in Sacramento – the ever fabulous Citizen Hotel. This wedding was just one awesome thing after another. Jen and Eric are two extremely wonderful people, and it was wonderful to be a part of their big day. The love they have for each other is so deep, and so very comfortable. It made everything about their wedding so easy. It was such a great way to close up a really great year. And let’s be real – late December light is TO. DIE. FOR. Seriously – the balcony shots I’m going to show you… I want to BUILD A LIFE with them. I want to get 8×10′s printed and just hand them to strangers on the street so they too can understand how pretty everything about this day was. So, I’ll be quiet now and show you some pictures of this fabulous wedding!
Brace yourself for this next one… Jennifer is SUCH a stunning bride! And when you have a bride this damn pretty, and then you get light that is like the most amazing light I’ve ever seen in my life… well… I am just so freaking happy I got to be up on this balcony.
Jen had all her besties come up to the Governor’s Suite before the ceremony to share a glass of champagne with her. I thought it was so awesome that she surrounded herself with those who she loves so much at such a special moment.
And then we had one quick moment as the sun set and the clouds were crazy awesome to grab this shot before going downstairs to the ballroom and getting these two hitched. And, oh man! I’m so glad we had this moment!
Then it was off to the reception! And because we’d gotten all the portraits and family pictures done prior to the ceremony, Jen and Eric got to go straight to their party! Now, you all know that I LOVE the Citizen Hotel, but they keep doing things to make me LOVE THEM MORE! Jen and Eric’s wedding was the first wedding there with the fabulous new windows on the 7th floor terrace room. I LOVE THE WINDOWS! They are awesome, and they make such a huge difference! They skyline is just that much more amazing now! Thanks Citizen Hotel! You make every wedding AMAZING!
A couple other things I LOVED about this wedding were the fact that Jen and Eric made it so THEM! Instead of a big ol’ cake, they had that cute little one up there and then had an ice cream sundae station! Awesome! And they did my most favorite thing for a wedding – they had a live band. They rocked out with The Hits and honestly, if you’re thinking about having a band at your wedding you totally should! And The Hit’s were AMAZING! The dance floor was never empty all night!
Jen and Eric thank you SO much for having us be a part of your OUTSTANDING wedding! We loved ending our 2010 season on such a high note. You two are just the best! Check out more of their wonderful wedding in their SLIDESHOW HERE or below!

Lori and Nick {Day After Session}
I’m sure I have a few blog stalkers out there who are right now thinking, “Who the hell are Lori and Nick? Sarah didn’t shoot their wedding!” And you’re right, Blog Stalkers, I didn’t shoot this handsome pairs wedding. But I have to say, I am actually thrilled that I didn’t. Because if I had we wouldn’t have gotten together on a rainy Tuesday at the end of December to make some images I am so excited about. Lori and Nick got married in November in Hawaii, and even though they LOVED their pictures, they didn’t get a ton of photography time so they didn’t get as many pictures as they wanted. So, a few days before Christmas (in the middle of my huge move!) I got a phone call from Lori’s delightful mother, Debby, asking if I would do a trash the dress session for them. I am SO glad I said yes! We started off at one of my favorite places on the planet, The Citizen Hotel, where Lori and her mom had stayed the night before for a girls night. Debby had been vital to putting their Hawaiian wedding together, so she missed helping Lori get ready. This was her opportunity to help her baby girl into her wedding dress. It was such a delight to have Debby with us! She’s the best! And let me just say, Lori ROCKED her dress!
Aren’t Lori and Nick so freaking cute together? I love them! Nick was such a sport too! He carried umbrellas, and cleaned off umbrellas when that became a necessity in a dirty alley as well. Thanks Nick! We headed out from the Citizen to grab some shots around downtown in the drizzle. It was super fun!
Then we all jumped in my car and ran over to one of my favorite spots under the freeway… only to discover PEOPLE ACTUALLY PARK THERE! None the less, Lori and Nick rocked out some shots in the now pouring rain. And when I looked at Lori and said, “Please lay down over here by this drainage grate.” The girl didn’t even blink an eye! You have my heart forever Lori – FOREVER!
Lori and Nick thank you SO much for this amazing shoot! I loved being a part of it! You two are fabulous, and I feel so grateful to know you. And thanks to Debby for walking around in the rain with us, carrying all our props and even holding my flashes for me! You are fantastic! And also a special thanks to my most favorite hair and makeup team, Leilani and Renee! You two knocked it out of the park… like always! Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or below for more images from this fabulous session!
Like a NINJA… from space! {Sneak Peeks}
So, lately Lauren has been on this “FROM SPACE!” kick. EVERYTHING is from space. EVERYTHING. She has a frog towel, and the other night after her bath she was running around the house being a Superhero Frog FROM SPACE! So… hence the name of this post… I’m like a NINJA FROM SPACE! And here with some sneak peeks of what we’ve been up to lately… and believe me… it’s be A LOT!
Let’s start with some head shots I did with my beloved Leilani and Renee for their soon-to-be released website. Seriously… if you need hair and makeup HERE ARE YOUR GIRLS!
And then there was this little rainy Day After Session with Lori and Nick… um… it was incredible and MADE MY MONTH!
(And as an aside, hair and makeup for that shoot was done by those hot ladies above… I’m just saying.)
Then our final wedding of 2010 was AMAZING! I can’t wait to share more from Jen and Erik’s BEAUTIFUL Citizen Hotel Wedding!
And we’ve started off 2011 with Jenny and Ian’s FREEZING COLD engagement session. They were troopers though, and cuddling for warmth actually makes a pretty fine photo.
There will be lots more SMP goodness headed your way soon! So stay tuned!
jessica and johan {engaged}
Wonderful Jessica and Johan! How freaking cute are they? SO CUTE! I met up with this super lovely couple in downtown Sacramento last month for their engagement session. The day started out dull and gray. I was SO worried that I’d have to artificially light the whole shoot that I dragged my photo bestie Beth Baugher along with me to hold my light. As I was driving to meet these two the clouds broke, the sun shone through and I knew this shoot was going to be a stunner. So! Lucky Jess and Johan not only got to hang out with me for their sunny shoot, they got Bethie too! What a fun day it turned out to be! Beth started things off by playing with her new super awesome Macro lens and grabbing this smokin’ hot ring shot.
Then we started in on these cuties. I love how Jessica and Johan interact. They have been together a long time, and they are so comfortable together. I loved being around them!
Aren’t Jessica’s eyes BANANAS? I was kind of obsessed with them the whole shoot. She is going to be SUCH a stunning bride this spring!
And would you like to know one of the fastest ways to my heart ever? Be willing to throw leaves at each other… when we are in a dirty parking lot downtown and those leaves are covered in god-knows-what. Because HOLY MOLY can it make for some fun pictures!
Jessica and Johan thank you so much for being so freaking awesome! We can’t wait for your wedding in March! It’s going to be spectacular! Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or below for lots more love from this perfect pair!
