    Kate and Ken’s eSession

When I asked Kate and Ken how they met Ken was quick to tell the story. He told me about how they had both been traveling abroad in Europe and he saw her across a crowded square… being mugged! So he ran over to her and saved her from the mugger and they’d been together ever since!

And then Kate laughed. Because they met thanks to having a lot of mutual friends on MySpace. But really, saving her from a mugging is a WAY better story. And that’s how I Kate and Ken were my kind of people, and their eSession was going to be a lot of fun!

Kate and Ken were no disappointment! And their engagement session proved to be entertaining for them as well. While we were shooting some shots in the middle of the street downtown I was brutally attacked. I was standing across the street from this beautiful couple photographing them with my telephoto lens when I suddenly felt something pound into my right shoulder. It felt like someone had thrown a fastball at my back. I was sure some kids were being practical jokers and when I turned around to go ALL Mom on them I didn’t see any kids. Instead there was a pigeon flapping wildly in the street. That’s right, I was attacked by a bird! Can you even believe it?!?! My friends are always making fun of me because I’m not an animal person and animals won’t ever let me be. This was just fuel for the fire.

Despite dive bombing birds, I soldered on and we kept shooting. It was so much fun photographing this happy couple. I’m so sad I don’t get to photograph their wedding in October (Ken’s sister happens to be a pretty great photographer who just happens to live on the East coast) but I’m so happy they found each other, however it happened.
