One of the most delightful parts of my job is collaborating with awesome people who do amazing things. I love having such talented humans in my circle of friends. When Shannon of Flourish calls or texts me with an idea for a shoot I know it’s gonna be good. Our exchange was something like this – Shannon: You want to do a shoot at a peony farm? Me: Um…. YES! Shannon: It is also a donkey rescue. Are you cool with donkeys? Me: Um… YES! And so an editorial shoot was born. In May we hoofed our way up to Bodacious Blooms in Lincoln, California to make some pretty happen. And we so did! We had a great team there to make the most of our afternoon with pretty flowers and cute donkeys and our super lovely model, Grace. We got to choose our dress wardrobe from Second Summer Bride and you guys! I have NEVER walked in there and seen less than 5 dresses I want to shoot IMMEDIATELY! I am like the proverbial kid in a candy store in there. The long sleeve dress is my dream come true. I saw it when we walked in, saw it and my heart was won forever. It’s the LOVELIEST dress! And Grace rocked it! We even got to have shop owner, Karla, on hand for the shoot making everything even more magic. But a photo shoot is not a photo shoot without awesome hair and makeup which were provided by the lovely Lea Buehler. She worked so much magic and made all my hair and makeup dreams for Grace come true. The farm was awesome and it was so delightful to work with a local grower who provides Shannon with the stunning flowers she makes her amazing designs with. Shannon always amazes me with her work and this shoot was no exception. Everything about the designs she put together was so far above my expectations I couldn’t believe it. You guys, she made a boa out of flowers! A BOA! And then, I put it on a donkey! What is not to love about this job? I hope you love some of these shots as much as I loved making them! More pretty dresses and flowers and donkeys I say.
