There are families that just have your heart from the first moment you meet them – and the D family is TOTALLY one of those kinds of families. I met this awesome group of amazing humans because our oldest children are in the same class at school. I love Emelia straight away, and when I met her mom I told Lauren, “Yeah, be best friends with HER, please.” It can be hard to connect with other parents, especially when your kid is in the smarties class (a problem I never suffered through, personally) but I knew we were reading the same book when I discovered Erika also cans. So, not only were our kids the same age but we also have a deep love of preserving food and memories. These are my people. I met up with the D family at their home in Roseville in November and made these images of them around their home. This session is shot 90% on film – Kodak Portra 800 and Kodak Portra 400 to be exact. These lovelies were so easy to photograph that I switched to digital only because I blew threw all 10 rolls of film I brought! I can’t thank the D family enough for inviting me into their home to create these images with them. It was just the best!
