Seriously, these are some of my favorite people in the universe. I met Katie at Stacy and Gavin’s wedding last year and it was kind of like love at first sight. Katie and I GET each other. We are loud, opinionated, sassy and drop dead gorgeous. Aside from that we also have two cute kids and super awesome husbands. SOUL MATES! Way back when Katie and I chatted about getting her family portraits done, and we finally made that happen a couple weeks ago and I am so glad we did! Her handsome husband, Mike and adorable girls, Emma and Abbey made this one awesome photo shoot!

I totally love these pictures of Katie and Mike… that’s love kids… right there.

And how stunning is Emma? SO STUNNING!

At several points in our shoot darling Abbey would stop to “do some yoga” as she told us. Clearly, she is the cutest thing ever.

Even Dad got in on the heart shaped sunglasses… can you blame him?

How freaking cute is this family? I love them! Abbey, our cute yogi master, is having open heart surgery tomorrow (hence her bitchin’ heart sunglasses) so PLEASE send down a wish, or send up a prayer (in the immortal words of Rachel Barry) for our beloved Abbey’s super speedy recovery. She is one incredible kid, and we want her better and yoga-ing it up soon! Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or below for more of this fabulous family!

So I was on Twitter one day and my dear friend Maria wrote “I REALLY need some family pictures.” As a photographer I KNOW how that feels. I know what it’s like to not have any pictures of your family with you in them. It’s the worst part of being a photographer! You have hundreds upon thousands of images of your kids and your husband, but none of you with them! I was thrilled to tell Maria I would happily take pictures of her ADORABLE family. I mean really, look at her babies! They are the cutest!

The first time I met Maria we were both attending a photography workshop. We were paired up for an exercise where we had to talk without any input from the other for 2 minutes. Both of us talked about our families and our cute husbands. Hearing her talk about her family meant the world to me. So, being able to make images of her and that family was a great joy, and a huge honor.

Seriously! How cute are Kash and Leah? Tut and Maria can sure make cute kids! I just adored photographing them!

It was a pleasure photographing Maria and Tut together too. Leah and Kash helped out by making faces at them the whole time I was shooting them… even still there is electricity between these two. When I was culling the images I thought, “This is what meant to be looks like.”

Also, the picture below is probably my favorite picture Dustin has ever taken. It is SO perfect!

Of course, these kids couldn’t stop being cute, so I couldn’t stop taking pictures of them!

Big huge thanks to Tut, Maria, Kash and Leah for making this shoot spectacular! I adored every second with you guys. Thanks for being such delightful friends. We love you! Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or below for more images of this super special family.

You know what I love about the world? I love that it is so small. You may not know this, but Dustin works for a pest control company by day and for Sarah Maren Photography by… well… the rest of the time. While he was working his day job he met Gabe and Sarah as they were moving into their new home. They chatted about having toddlers and ants and all that good stuff. Dustin told them about us, and about family portraits. He left them with a card and tips on avoiding infestations. Later that week, Gabe and Sarah met up with their friends who are getting married soon. Their friends insisted everyone look at their engagement pictures who had been taken by… ME! Mandy and Scott shared their pictures and not long after that, Gabe gave me a call. It was so meant to be!

Gabe and Sarah have a beautiful almost 2 year old son, Landon. He is HILARIOUS and ALL BOY! I have a very girlie girl, so sometimes boys surprise me with how brave and rambunctious they can be. And although Landon is definitely both, it was so much fun photographing him and his mom and dad. We had a great time just finding spaces around their home for pictures, and letting Landon be Landon.

Of course we had to get some pictures of Sarah and Gabe too! I mean, hello! Could they BE any cuter?
And of course, we took loads of pictures of the three of them together.

We headed over to one of Landon’s favorite places… the park! The light was AMAZING and we had a blast playing around.

Thanks so much to the wonderful Johnson family for inviting Dustin and I to photograph your beautiful family! We loved spending time with you and love the images we made together. Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or in the box below for more of this awesome family!

The Hammel Family {portraits}

The beloved Hammel family! They are adorable, and I was so excited to work with them again. You might remember this awesome bunch from Jen and Ed’s Lake Tahoe Wedding last September. The whole family was in town for the 4th of July and Dustin and I were thrilled to get together with them and rock a photo shoot of the family variety. It was lots of fun, and we were laughing a lot the whole time. Plus… they just so happen to have one of the cutest babies ever in the world in their family. I mean, really, check her out.

Isn’t she adoreable!?!?! She likes her mom and dad too.

But there was more than babies at this shoot. There were doggies too! The Hammel’s are friends of the canine and I was excited that they got to come along for our session.

Oh! And there was a cute engaged couple. We LOVE cute engaged couples!

And there was a cute Jen and Ed there too! Hooray!

And there were sisters, and brothers and a grandma and grandpa who just happen to have a cute grandbaby! Good times, right? RIGHT!

Thanks to the delightful Hammel’s for letting us be a part of your family again. We adore you and are so glad to know you. Check out their SLIDESHOW HERE or in the box below.

Sarah and Dustin!! You did it again! You have captured the essence of the Hammel family and have made us beautiful (despite lacking sleep), happy (overcoming family drama) and calm (yes, there were FOUR dogs on the shoot!)… You guys rock!! THANK YOU!! We love you and our family pics!

  3. Karlene

There are fabulous! How great to get the puppies and the baby… and I’m not sure if babies get any cuter than that! Awesome.
