jazmin and toni {wedding}

Beautiful Jazmin and Toni. I really, really love these two crazy kids. They are soft spoken, genuine and tender. Their love is strong and beautiful and I am so very happy to have been a part of their wedding day. It was such a very emotional day full of a lot of love and beauty. I just adored it. We met up with them at the Library Galleria in downtown Sacramento. Because Jazmin and Toni didn’t see each other prior to the wedding we were all about images of them with their respective bridal parties. And since it was threatening to rain a little AND there was a GIGANTIC music festival across the street we rocked some parking garage shots. It was, of course, magical… as most parking garages are.

Then it was ceremony time! And I was so excited for these two to FINALLY see each other. Hooray! Another really cool thing was Jazmin and Toni’s ceremony was spoken entirely in Spanish… which is something I always really, really like. Dustin is fluent in Spanish and I am not, but even though I couldn’t understand all of what was being said the feeling was the same… and I really like that. I like that no matter what language it’s in the feeling of love and marriage is the same. It makes me all tingly!

And then it was time to rock some portraits. Mother Nature was being all RAD and giving me clouds and sunshine simultaneously and making me ever so happy!

And then it was party time! Hooray!

Jazmin and Toni! We love you and are so grateful to have been a part of your beautiful wedding! Thank you for letting us be a part of your beautiful celebration! Check out their SLIDESHOW HERE or in the box below for more images of this lovely pair.

    Toni and Jazmin have such an amazing style and flare that i’ve seen in their everyday lives and I love how beautiful they made their wedding. The pictures add that extra touch that makes them truly amazing memories to keep. Well done!! :)

Kristin’s Grand Opening {personal/event}

Filed under: Event Shoots, Personal

As many of you know, my sister Kristin is a financial genius. She is super smart about all things finance and really, she always has been. I mean, she had a checking account when she was 16. I think I was like 19 before I got around to doing that. It is her smarts that lead her to a degree in finance and a job with Edward Jones. She’s been with Edward Jones for over two years and this spring opened her own office. We FINALLY had her grand opening last week and it was a success!

The Roseville Chamber of Commerce came out for her official ribbon cutting. Lauren was mesmerized by the giant scissors.

The whole day was a party! From beginning to end it was a celebration of Kristin’s success and I am really, really proud of her. It was lovely to see so many people come out and support her.

So! If you’re in the market for some financial advise you should definitely check Kristin and her super cool office out. Congratulations Kristin!!

Ashleigh and Kris {wedding}

OH MY GOSH! I can’t even BEGIN to tell you how happy I am to be posting this BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING wedding that we got to be a part of! Ashleigh and Kris are just magic and their wedding was truly one of the best times we have EVER had at a wedding. We felt like family as we witnessed this beautiful pair become man and wife. I seriously have more pictures from this wedding than I ever thought I could possibly deliver to a single bride! But, since I flew in my ringer, Marina Miller of Red Heart Photo from Hawaii and had my sweet intern Windy with me as well as my wonderful and amazing second shooter husband Dustin it’s really no surprise that I’m delivering over TWO THOUSAND images from this wedding! Windy and I started our day with the ladies and HELLO! Could Ashleigh and her gals be any more beautiful?!?!?

Ashleigh’s dress was AMAZING! I had a lot of fun playing with it.

And then there were the shoes… the shoes that made my heart skip…

Then it was portrait time!

While I was surrounded by amazing beauty, Dustin and Marina were surrounded by hot guys! Kris and his friends had a little game of pool football before getting ready for the main event.

Then it was time to get these two hitched! Ashleigh and Kris has a wonderfully moving ceremony. EVERYONE was crying by the end. It was just amazing!

And then it was time to get the party started! Debra of Tres Fabu seriously outdid herself on this wedding. I could have spent the entire day photographing details and NEVER have gotten it all! I seriously was blown away by the beautiful design of the whole event. It was SO perfect, and SO Ashleigh and Kris!

We even took a few minutes to grab a few pictures of our lovely couple.

These crazy kids sure know how to party too! Between the dancing and the drinks and the surprise fireworks it was just one heck of an incredible celebration.

I seriously can’t thank my team enough for being so freaking ON IT during this wedding, and especially my sweet husband who keeps me sane and makes SMP possible. To all the wonderful vendors, it was RAD working with you all. This really was a Platinum wedding with an amazing couple who have some of the most fun family and friends I’ve ever met. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your amazing day! Check out the SLIDESHOW HERE or in the box below for more pictures of this rock n’ roll wedding extravaganza!

Lyndsay and Mike {Anniversary Session}

July 23rd, 2009
Filed under: Family Portraits, Portraits

You know what my favorite email is? Well, after the “We are having a baby!” email, my favorite email to get from a bride and groom of mine is the “We want to do an anniversary shoot!” email. I love that email, that email makes me happy. So there was some jumping around, and minor fist pumping when I got an email from Mike saying he wanted to surprise Lyndsay with a session for their first anniversary. I kept the fist pumping dignified though, don’t worry. So we met up with our most beloved Lyndsay and Mike in midtown and rocked out one of my most favorite shoots EVER!

As many of you know the first anniversary is the paper anniversary. Lyndsay wanted to try and incorporate paper into the shoot and we were lucky enough to be passing a magazine store so we stopped in for some quick pics. Oh, and since Lyndsay and Mike just happen to be on the back cover of Real Weddings Magazine, we got a shot of that too. It’s all coming full circle!

And then we were off to get a little grungier. You know me, if it’s filthy and smells bad and we’re a little worried for our safety then it’s the best possible place to take some pictures. Luckily, Lyndsay and Mike agreed and we were off!

Since Lyndsay and Mike love their car as deeply as I love my own (which is a deep love that has only been supplanted by the love I have for my husband and child) we decided to rock some pictures that included it. Also, since Mike is famous for jumping I had to make him jump too. I love boys who jump!

Since we were going strong we threw one more location onto the fire… a laundromat. Luckily it was empty as it was almost 10pm, but it was still beautiful. We had a lot of fun rocking some pictures of our happy pair. We made Lyndsay sit in a basket this time though.

Thanks to Lyndsay and Mike for KILLING IT yet again. I can never tell you how much I adore you – so I will show you with a SLIDESHOW HERE and in the box below. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your life together. We adore you! Also, a HUGE thank you to my beloved Beth Baugher of True Love Photo. Beth shot their wedding with me last year, and just happened to be around when I was shooting their family portraits last fall and then JUST HAPPENED to show up for this shoot as well! I fully expect Beth will be cracking open a coke in the waiting room when Lyndsay and Mike have babies. Thanks for everything Bethie… I adore you and you know it! Enjoy the slideshow everybody!

    Yeah!!! I’ve been excited for these…that sneak peak was just way too tempting. I love that he surprised her with an anniversary session, what a great idea. Oh, and if their future babies are half as cute, fun and photogenic as these two I look forward to years of fantastic shoots. =)

  7. Jess

    These two are so fun and adorable. What a thoughtful husband!

  8. Windy

    Oh Sarah, that back alley makes my heart flutter. These two are delicious and this shoot of them is no exception.

  9. Audrey Gardemeyer

    Hey Sarah: Just wanted to say, I love your work! I meant to introduce myself to you at SWOP meets the other week, but the night seemed to fly by. Anyways, love the laundromat shots! You seem to take a whole different angle on seemingly casual spots and make them fun!
