I’m so unsure how to write about this wedding. It was a perfect day, it was a perfect couple. This wedding, deep in the redwoods of the tip top of California was just the kind of wedding I needed. This wedding, this couple – they were like a balm to my soul. Honestly, there are just not enough words. And there most certainly aren’t the right words to express how special and moving and wonderful Megan and Cameron’s California Redwoods elopement means to me. It started with a Skype call with this happy pair. They weren’t even engaged yet, but they already had a plan to get married. We talked via the internet with thousands of miles between us but it felt like we were sitting in the same room. I wanted nothing more than to hug them when we were done chatting. I had met people I would always want to know, and they were trusting me to record the day they promised forever to each other. As the weeks wore on after that call we exchanged emails when they officially got engaged, and then when everything was booked for their travel. During those emails we decided that Dustin, my darling husband, would be the one who married these two. And so, on the first day of September we drove with our new friends into the oldest trees I’ve ever seen and witnessed a wedding that will stay with me forever. I watched my husband marry two people who are clearly, and without doubt meant to be together. There was nothing I could do but cry tears of joy for my new friends. I remember the feeling of joy and relief that comes with meeting you person – your one person. And that feeling washed over me anew as I witnessed my person binding these two forever. THIS is why I became a wedding photographer. Being able to make the promise of forever just the tiniest bit tangible. My heart is forever in debt to Megan and Cameron for letting me be their witness and letting Dustin bind them as husband and wife. There just aren’t enough words for all this happy and all this love.
My dear friend and AMAZING florist Shannon of Flourish made Megan’s amazing bouquet and floral crown and the boutonniere for Cameron. Dustin and I brought them up when we drove to Eureka. I am so IN LOVE with the stunning work Shannon creates. These flowers worked SO perfectly for this wedding. I can’t thank Shannon enough for sharing her amazing talent!
