Emily and Sam had one heck of a lovely Firehouse Restaurant Wedding in Old Sacramento this summer. It was my absolute pleasure to be there as these high school sweethearts tied the knot. The day was laid back, beautiful and filled to the brim with love and happiness. Emily and Sam are loved not only by each other, but by a whole bunch of awesome family and friends. They were surrounded by so much support for their marriage. You could feel the excitement as it buzzed through the air. Every single person in attendance was thrilled for them – and it shows! There is nothing I love more than photographing a wedding where EVERYONE is excited and happy. It is pure magic. That magic, of course, starts when the couple is getting ready. These are some of my favorite images of any wedding. There is this seance of anticipation, a thick current of energy that washes over everything as the couple prep to see each other. I absolutely love it! Of course, the payoff of all that anticipation is when the couple see each other for the first time. And that is why I love a first look. That moment is more isolated. The couple is freer to express their joy. Emily and Sam did just that, and it was perfection.
Since Emily and Sam had a first look, we were able to make some great portraits of them and their bridal party before the ceremony. This group was a hoot! We had a great time traipsing around Old Sac!
Then it was time to get these two married under the market lights in the courtyard of The Firehouse Restaurant. There was some seriously magical light happening during the ceremony. It made my heart sing! Beautiful light and an amazing couple makes for great images. I adored Emily and Sam’s vows to each other, and their kiss was just perfection! Happiness was all over the place!
No wedding is complete without some pretty sunset shots! I’m so happy we snuck away to grab these images before the reception REALLY got going.
