It’s hard to believe we just closed the books of another year. 2016 marked my 20th year as a photographer. I am so grateful for each of my amazing clients. The trust they put in me to make images with their families that are authentically them. That means the world to me. I am so happy to give this gift to people. I love showing a family how lovely they are. Giving a mother a memory of the night her child was born. Showing a toddler, who won’t remember this time, how much they are treasured. Placing an image of love in front of a couple who have been married for a long, long time and showing them just how lovely they truly are. This year has had me make photos I never wished to. Photos of one of my best friends holding her family before she started chemo. Photos of a couple married over 40 years before the wife went into a surgery it wasn’t clear she’d come out of. Creating images of a newborn baby whose Grandmother was tragically and unexpectedly taken just weeks before. Being present and fully aware of how important these photos are is a big deal to me. Just as with all the deliriously joyful photos I got to make. A baby born at home in the middle of the night. Couples I’ve photographed for years expanding their family. Watching a couple whose wedding I photographed grow into a family, and to have them welcome me back year after year to make photographs of their growth and change. I will never be able to express the happiness this job brings me. Thank you to everyone who had me make photos with you this year. It has been an honor, and an incredible privilege.
