Lisa and Geoff are pretty incredible people – and I don’t say that because they keep having me make amazing images with them – I say it because it’s true AND because they keep having me make amazing images with them.  Geoff called me up last month and said, “Wanna take pretty pictures of us in Joshua Tree and Palm Springs AND bring your family along too?” and it took me about a quarter of a second to say, “Yuh-huh!”  And so we piled into our turbo diesel European export cars and made our way down to Palm Springs to stay at the worlds cutest hotel – The Saguaro Hotel .  Now, my kids LOVE to swim and so when they found out there was a pool, AND they got to swim in it IN NOVEMBER they were thrilled!  While Lisa, Geoff and I ran around the hotel taking pictures full of color and awesome my kids swam and had a blast.  It was FANTASTIC!  To say that I am IN LOVE with this hotel is really an understatement – it is fantastic!  Taking pictures there was like letting me loose in a candy store.  I was totally overwhelmed by the colors, texture, lines and beauty.  I could shoot there FOR DAYS!

How freaking cute are they?!?!?  Lisa’s shirt is seriously the freaking cutest thing ever.  And she is so delightfully cute all pregnant and glowy!  It made my heart SO happy.  Also, seeing my kids having loads of fun made me really happy too!  I mean, how adorable are my babies!

The next day we headed off to Joshua Tree National Park after a breakfast I have dreamed about repeatedly since then.  (Eggs Benedict on homemade corn biscuits – I mean SERIOUSLY!)  This was not only my first time to Palm Springs, but it was also my first trip to Joshua Tree.  Now, I am not a desert person AT ALL – but Joshua Tree is straight up magical.  I LOVED everything about it.  As we were driving in I saw about a thousand places to shoot.  Again, totally overwhelmed by the pretty of it all.  Lisa and Geoff picked a lovely spot where we had some lunch, and then got down to the business of making awesome pictures.  I was in HEAVEN!

It was just amazing!  Then we drove to a lookout a few miles away and grabbed this delicious shot with the last of an incredible sunset.  SO worth leaving my camera bag FULL of lenses in the middle of the dark desert for us to have to return and search for.  SO WORTH IT!

Isn’t light the most freaking amazing thing?  I just love it!  And fear not, the bag was found and the lenses are safe.  We headed back to the hotel feeling really great about the pictures we made together.  The next morning was a the kind that we don’t get very often.  It was morning of doing pretty much nothing.  We took the kids to the swimming pool for some morning laps, I sat in the jacuzzi until I was a prune, we soaked up the sun and enjoyed our time of just BEING.  That kind of morning is SO rare that I cherished every second of it.  It made the fact that we had an 8 hour drive ahead of us and I had to be on an airplane to New York at 5am the next morning much more bearable. These have become some of my favorite pictures from our trip.

I am SO excited for Lisa and Geoff to welcome their baby next month!  I can’t wait to take some pictures of their new little family.  Again, being a part of a couples wedding is awesome – but being a part of their growing family just makes everything so much better!  I can’t thank Lisa and Geoff enough for their incredible friendship and for always giving me so much room to play when I photograph them.  It is one of my greatest joys as a photographer!  You can check out Lisa and Geoff’s entry about their session on their personal blog Hello Bardot!
