Sometimes time is a weird crazy thing. Like, years just PASS ON BY like it’s nothing! Dustin and I talk about this all the time. We both feel like since we met each other our lives have been on fast forward. Working with couples and families I have realized we are not alone in this phenomenon. Ferris Buller said it best, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” One of the things I am most grateful for my job is the fact that it basically is entirely composed of looking around and not missing it. I get to slow the breakneck speed of life down for an hour or two and lock in some memories for people I adore. Is there anything better than that?? Nope.
When Summer emailed me to get on the calendar for Charlie’s first birthday cake smash and family portraits I couldn’t believe how fast a year had flown by! Hadn’t Charlie just accidentally been born at home like a week ago? Nope… it was a year. More than that, how has SO much time passed that I’ve known Charlie’s parents? I’ve been deeply in love with this family since the beginning and find so much joy making photos of their awesomeness. When Summer said she wanted to do the photos in Nevada City where she and Greg had gotten married 6 years earlier I literally clapped my hands with excitement. And when she told me they were doing a donut smash instead of cake I actually whooped with glee. One photo shoot was stringing together so many other awesome times I’d had these loves in front of my camera. It was a total joy! Photographing a baby and a four year old is always a bit of a challenge – but we made some photos I hope this family loves forever!!
