Earlier this year I was given the great honor of photographing Sacramento’s Mama’s Night Out event for Unravel Pediatric Cancer. As many of you know, my best friend is Jill – or as some of you call her, Best Friend Jill. Jill is amazing and she tends introduce me to a lot of stuff I wouldn’t know about otherwise. Mama’s Night Out and Unravel are some of the things she’s shown me this year. In fact, Jill is on the board for Unravel as their Social Media Director. When she started telling me about Mama’s Night Out and all the effort the event entails I immediately volunteered my camera services. I had met Libby, the founder of Unravel last year at a blogging conference, and had heard the story of her 6 year old daughter, Jennifer. Jennifer was diagnosed with brain cancer on her 6th birthday and sadly, would leave this world just 6 months later. Libby has taken her tragic loss and turned it into Unravel – a non-profit that is helping fund research that is so wildly underfunded. It was an honor to stand with these women and join in the fight against pediatric cancer. I am so grateful to have been able to capture this event. I hope that the other cities hosting Mama’s Night Out events have even more success and I hope to see many, many more faces in next years crowd.
