I REALLY love photographing food. Like, in a way that is bordering on unhealthy. Doing Sacramento food product photography is the best! There is something about making something so universal into something unique and beautiful. I love the challenge of it. I adore cooking and so photography food is just a natural extension of that passion. I was so excited to photograph a new line of delivery foods for a local company, It’s Fit Food. The food is healthy, portion controlled meals for people working on weight loss and fitness. I will be honest, the idea of making health food beautiful made me nervous. But I shouldn’t have been! It’s Fit Food made beautiful AND delicious meals for their clients. I was so impressed with the attention to detail they use to create these meals. Flavor is paramount to them and I love that! It made it so much easier to make pretty pictures of this great food. The client was a little nervous about having the food styled, but I think that is really important. Especially when showing food that will be delivered. You don’t have to eat it in the container it arrives in! Putting a delivered meal on a plate or a bowl brings a little humanity to it. I had a great time with Jill Mansfield of my sister brand, Poppy & Paisley Media on board to style the food for this shoot. She did an incredible job choosing the right vessels and accessories for each dish. I couldn’t have done this shoot with out her! I hope these photos are a feast for the eyes as much as this food is a feast for the body!
