This is my dear friend Janelle. Janelle is an AMAZING writer who runs a tell-it-like-it-is parenting blog called Renegade Mothering. I met Janelle when I photographed the Sacramento cast of Listen To Your Mother a couple years ago and basically it was love at first sight.
Janelle is an amazing human. We get each other in a way that is completely organic and often hilarious. Her friendship has been such a blessing to me. She is the person who I say my super dark stuff to, and then she kinda laughs at me which makes it all feel not so bad. She is a great listener, a great talker, a great friend. It has been such a pleasure to get to know her and her family. Yes, we’ve secretly arranged the marriage of two of our children, but I digress. Janelle and her family are our people. They are our tribe. And let me tell you, it is one hell of a hilarious tribe to belong to.
Janelle is big believer in pretty pictures as well as pretty words. She has had me photograph the birth of her fourth child, and then that tiny baby during his first week, these awesome head shots you’re scrolling through, and soon her family. She wants her pictures authenic and real. I am SO happy to provide that for her. She sees beauty in the everyday things of her busy life as a writer and mama of four tiny humans. She has championed that same beauty in my photography and it just makes my heart burst! Photographing her has been an incredible honor.
But we’ve been working on a project for a while that has finally taken shape, has finally been launched from our minds and into reality and we are SO DAMN excited about it! It is with SO MUCH EXCITMENT I CAN HARDLY STAND IT that I announce our joint Sacramento writing and photography workshop – The Pen and The Lens A weekend intensive writing and photography workshop that will basically make you a bad ass. From Janelle you will learn the skills of writing your truth in your authentic voice and dealing with the haters who hate or the lovers who love (you probably have more lovers, let’s be honest). From me, you will learn how to take great pictures with the camera you have to connect your readers even further to the words your creating and sharing while building a great visual presence through social media. Basically, we are gonna teach you how to be a bad ass. You don’t wanna miss it!
